Representative Brad Barker

Brad Barker is a dedicated public servant and a member of the Montana House of Representatives, representing District 55. Born in Altus, Oklahoma, Brad grew up on a farm and ranch near Snyder, Oklahoma, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for community values. His early life was marked by a commitment to service, which led him to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematical Economics.

Following his graduation, Brad embarked on a distinguished career in the United States Army, serving as an aviation officer for over two decades. During his military tenure, he held multiple command and staff assignments, including leading an Aviation Battalion Task Force in Afghanistan, where he was responsible for over 600 personnel and 49 aircraft. His service took him to various parts of the world, including South Korea, Germany, the Balkans, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Brad’s exemplary leadership and dedication earned him numerous accolades, including four Bronze Star Medals and three Air Medals for his contributions in combat.

In addition to his military achievements, Brad pursued further education, earning a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University in 2004 and a Master’s degree in Military Studies from the Marine Corps University in 2006. These academic pursuits equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of policy-making and strategic leadership.

After retiring from the Army, Brad transitioned to civilian life and continued his commitment to public service. He served as the Chief Operating Officer of Teton County School District Number 1 in Jackson, Wyoming, from 2014 to 2016. His leadership in this role demonstrated his ability to address complex organizational challenges and foster community engagement.

Brad eventually settled in Montana, where he became actively involved in local issues and politics. As a member of the Montana House of Representatives, he has been a vocal advocate for education reform, agricultural development, and transportation infrastructure. He serves on several key committees, including the Agriculture Committee, the House Taxation Committee, and the Transportation Committee. His legislative efforts have focused on improving literacy rates among children and supporting policies that benefit Montana’s rural communities.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Brad is a devoted family man and an active member of his community. He resides in Luther, Montana, with his wife, Carla, and their children. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities and continues to contribute to the well-being of his constituents through his unwavering dedication to public service.
