Representative Donavon Hawk
Donavon Hawk is a member of the Montana House of Representatives, representing District 76. He assumed office on January 4, 2021, and his current term ends on January 6, 2025. Hawk ran for re-election to the Montana House of Representatives to represent District 76 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Hawk studied at Montana Technological University. His career experience includes working as the public relations and marketing coordinator with the Butte YMCA. He has volunteered with SEIU, Montana Organizing Project, and Praxis Project.
In terms of legislative work, Hawk was assigned to several committees including the House Ethics Committee, Human Services Committee, House Judiciary Committee, House Legislative Administration Committee, House Local Government Committee, and House Education Committee. He has also sponsored legislation such as increasing penalties for passing school buses and creating an offense for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
Hawk is of Crow and Lakota heritage and is a member of the legislature’s Indigenous Caucus. He is also openly gay. He has been active in local politics and activism, working with the Silver Bow County Democratic Party and currently serves as the treasurer of the Montana Democratic Party.
