Shelly Fyant is a Democratic Party member serving in the Montana House of Representatives. She represents District 91 and assumed office on January 6, 2025. Her current term is set to end on January 4, 2027.

Born in St. Ignatius, Montana, Shelly Fyant has a rich history of public service and community involvement. She graduated from Ronan High School in 1975, earned an associate degree from Haskell Indian Nations University in 1978, and later completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Montana in 1989. Her professional background includes working as a consultant, focusing on food security and cultural awareness, which reflects her deep commitment to addressing critical issues in her community.

Shelly Fyant is a proud member of the Bitterroot Salish, Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes. Her leadership roles have included serving on the CSKT Tribal Council from 2014 to 2021 and as the CSKT Tribal Chairwoman from 2020 to 2021. She has also been actively involved in various advisory councils and boards, such as the Western Leaders Network, the Buffalo Nations Food Systems Initiative Advisory Council, and the Leadership Montana Indigenous Advisory Council. Additionally, she has contributed to her local community as the food sovereignty chair of the Arlee Community Development Corporation and as a member of the Arlee school board from 2012 to 2014.
