John A. Fredrickson
John A. Fredrickson is a member of the Nebraska Legislature for District 20 from Omaha, Nebraska. He was elected to the Nebraska Legislature on November 8, 2022, by a margin of only 82 votes. He is the first openly gay man to be elected to the state legislature.

Born on March 28, 1987, in Des Moines, Iowa, John Fredrickson is a father, husband, mental health professional, and educator. He married Jeff Formanek on May 21, 2016, and they have one child: Leon.
Education
John Fredrickson is a graduate of Skutt Catholic High School, 2005. He earned his B.S. in social work from New York University in 2009 and his M.S. in social work from Columbia University in 2010.
Career
Before his political career, John Fredrickson spent the last 10 years helping people overcome challenges through his work as a mental health provider. He also taught the next generation of Social Workers as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University.

John Fredrickson ran for election to the Nebraska State Senate to represent District 20. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022. His current term ends on January 6, 2027. He assumed office on January 4, 2023.
