Senator Kathleen Kauth
Kathleen Kauth is a distinguished member of the Nebraska Legislature from Omaha, Nebraska in District 31. She was appointed by Governor Pete Ricketts on June 7, 2022, to fill the seat of former Senator Rich Pahls who passed away on April 27, 2022. Following her appointment, she won the vote in the midterm election of 2022 to continue as state senator of Nebraska’s District 31.
Born on February 3, 1970, in Canton, Illinois, Kathleen Kauth is a proud graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where she earned her bachelor’s degree in criminology and master’s degree in public policy. She also holds a graduate certificate in gerontology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Before her political career, Kathleen Kauth is the founder of K.T. Beck Enterprises, LLC, a mediation and conflict coaching firm. She moved to Omaha with her husband and three boys in 2012. Kauth has also served on the State of Nebraska’s Aging Advisory Committee and is currently on the Omaha City Charter Commission. She has been a member of the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging (ENOA) Foster Grandparents Advisory Board since 2017.
During her tenure as senator, Kauth has sponsored LB574, which would forbid gender-affirming care such as puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and surgeries for those under 19. Her work in the legislature reflects her commitment to her constituents and her dedication to public service.
In addition to her legislative duties, Kathleen Kauth is also known for her work in the energy sector. She is the Director of Partnerships for the Advanced Energy Centre at MaRS. In this role, she works with energy industry stakeholders to cooperatively facilitate the adoption of innovation in the energy system. Kathleen discovered cleantech while taking classes in Berkeley, California, and has been passionate about the sector ever since.
