Wendy DeBoer is a member of the Nebraska Legislature from the 10th district. She was born on May 16, 1974, in Omaha, Nebraska. She grew up in the Maple Village area of the city.

Education: DeBoer has an impressive educational background. She graduated from Burke High School in 1992. She attended Hastings College and graduated in 1996 with a B.A. in economics and English. She then went to the University of Nebraska College of Law and graduated with a J.D. in 1999. She also attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha and graduated with an M.A. in English literature in 2003. She attended the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and graduated with an M.A. in theology in 2008. Finally, she attended Syracuse University and graduated with an MPhil in religious studies in 2015.

Career: DeBoer was elected to the Nebraska Legislature’s 10th district after Bob Krist announced that he would run for Governor of Nebraska. She assumed office on January 9, 2019. Her current term ends on January 6, 2027. She ran for re-election to the Nebraska State Senate to represent District 10 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Personal Life: DeBoer is an active member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She was a former member of Rejoice! Lutheran Church from 2002-17 where she served as an adult education instructor. She was also a co-organizer of the 2013 Syracuse University Religion Graduate Organization Graduate Student Conference and a regional conference organizer, workshop facilitator, and banquet speaker for Compassionate Friends from 1986-96.

Honors and Awards: DeBoer has been honored with the Order of the Barristers, a National Courtroom Advocacy Honorary.
