Representative Howard Watts

Howard Watts III, born on December 14, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nevada, is an American politician serving as a member of the Nevada Assembly from the 15th district. He was elected in 2018 and assumed office in 2019.

Watts is a son of Culinary Union members and a graduate of the Clark County School District and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2011.

In 2018, Watts ran for election to represent the 15th district in the Nevada Assembly to replace Elliot Anderson, who was not seeking re-election. He won a five-way Democratic primary with 45.7% of the vote, and won the general election with 66.5% of the vote.

During his tenure, Watts has served on several Assembly committees including Growth and Infrastructure, Judiciary, Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Mining. He also served as Chair of the Committee on Natural Resources and Vice Chair of the Committee on Growth and Infrastructure for the 2021 Legislature.

He has successfully passed laws to improve water conservation, fight climate change, expand voting access and civil rights, protect public lands, and promote racial equity. Watts also owns and operates a small public relations business.

Watts is a dedicated public servant and continues to work towards the betterment of his community and the state of Nevada.
