James Ohrenschall is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Nevada Senate. He was born in October 1972 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has been representing District 21 since November 7, 2018, succeeding Mark Manendo.

James Ohrenschall is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Nevada Senate. He was born in October 1972 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has been representing District 21 since November 7, 2018, succeeding Mark Manendo.

Before his tenure in the Senate, he served in the Nevada Assembly from 2006 to 2018, representing District 12. He succeeded his mother, Eugenia ‘Genie’ Ohrenschall, who held the seat from 1994 until 2006.

James Ohrenschall is a native Nevadan and Las Vegan. He attended local schools, including John S. Park Elementary School, John C. Fremont Junior High School, and Chaparral High School. After graduating high school, Ohrenschall earned his B.A. in Economics from the UNLV College of Business and his J.D. from the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law.

His professional experience includes working as an attorney. He has been a member of the Nevada State Senate since November 7, 2018. His current term ends on November 4, 2026. He ran for re-election to the Nevada State Senate to represent District 21 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Throughout his political career, Ohrenschall has served on various committees. In the 2023-2024 legislative session, he was assigned to the Senate Government Affairs Committee as Vice Chair, Senate Judiciary Committee, and Senate Legislative Operations and Elections Committee as Chair. He has also served on these committees in the past legislative sessions.

In his elections, he has shown a strong performance. For instance, in the 2022 General election for Nevada State Senate District 21, he defeated April Larsen and secured 55.8% of the votes.
