Senator John Steinbeck

Senator John Steinbeck, a member of the Republican Party, serves in the Nevada State Senate representing District 18. He assumed office on November 6, 2024, and his current term is set to conclude on November 8, 2028.

John Steinbeck has dedicated his life to public service, with a career spanning over three decades in emergency management and public safety. He began his journey with the Clark County Fire Department in 1990, where he rose through the ranks, serving as a firefighter, engineer, captain, battalion chief, and deputy fire chief. In 2020, he was promoted to fire chief, a role in which he demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the safety and well-being of his community.

Throughout his career, Steinbeck has been at the forefront of emergency preparedness and response. He played a pivotal role in coordinating efforts during significant crises, including the tragic Route 91 Harvest Music Festival shooting in 2017. His leadership in establishing the Family Assistance Center and the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center showcased his dedication to supporting survivors and enhancing community resilience. Additionally, he contributed to statewide emergency management reforms to better protect Nevada’s communities.

Steinbeck’s contributions extend beyond his professional duties. He has been actively involved with organizations such as Nevada Child Seekers and the American Red Cross, reflecting his commitment to community service. His educational background includes an associate degree in Fire Science from the College of Southern Nevada and a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management from Purdue University Global.
