Katy Peternel earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Akron. Her career experience includes working as a homeschool coop coordinator and a caregiver. She has been affiliated with the New Hampshire Homeschool Coalition, the Wolfeboro Agricultural Commission, and the New Hampshire Farm Bureau.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Katy Peternel has been an active volunteer in her local community. She has coached sports, served as a 4H leader, and organized homeschool co-ops. As a military wife, she has endured two deployments and also runs a small family farm.

In the 2022 elections, Katy Peternel ran for election to the New Hampshire House of Representatives to represent Carroll 6. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022. In this election, Katy Peternel and incumbent John MacDonald defeated Carrie Duran and Gogi Millner.
