Gordon Johnson is a dedicated public servant who has made significant contributions to his community. Born and raised in Englewood, New Jersey, he has a strong background in law enforcement, education, and public service.

Biography: Gordon M. Johnson grew up in Englewood, New Jersey, where he still resides. His mother was a nurse, and his father served as a United States Customs Agent. Johnson attended St. Cecilia High School and later earned a B.S. in Social Science and Criminal Justice from St. Thomas Aquinas College. He continued his education at Seton Hall University, where he obtained an M.A. in Administration and Supervision.

Before entering politics, Johnson served twenty-four years with the Englewood Police Department, rising to the rank of Patrol Sergeant. His commitment to public safety and community well-being shaped his career. Additionally, he has experience in labor relations and served as President of the State P.B.A. Supervisory Officers Association-Local #216.

In 2002, Johnson began his legislative journey by representing District 37 in the New Jersey General Assembly. During his tenure, he demonstrated leadership and dedication to his constituents. He served as the deputy speaker of the Assembly and held other key roles, including majority conference leader and deputy conference leader.

Beyond his legislative work, Johnson has a military background. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve, achieving the rank of major. His commitment to service extends to his community involvement, where he has worked as an independent consultant and held positions with the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.
