Joseph Pennacchio, born on May 27, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American Republican Party politician. He has been serving the 26th Legislative District in the New Jersey Senate since January 8, 2008.

Joseph Pennacchio, born on May 27, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American Republican Party politician. He has been serving the 26th Legislative District in the New Jersey Senate since January 8, 2008. He has also served in the Senate as the Deputy Republican Leader since 2022.

Pennacchio’s educational background includes a B.S. in Biology from Brooklyn College in 1976 and a D.D.S. degree from the New York University College of Dentistry in 1979. His professional experience includes working as a dentist at the Mount Arlington Family and Cosmetic Dental Associates.

Before his tenure in the State Senate, Pennacchio served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2001 to 2008. He also served on the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders from 1998 to 2001 and is a former member of Governor DiFrancesco’s New Jersey Economic Development Authority. He is the founder and a former member of the Montville Education Foundation, and a former member of the Montville Economic Development Council.

In the State Senate, Pennacchio has been assigned to the Senate Economic Growth Committee and the Senate Legislative Oversight Committee. He has been named to the Senate Republican Leadership Team as the Deputy Senate Republican Leader. Pennacchio has been on the forefront of Transparency in Government with his efforts to bring a comprehensive, inclusive website to New Jersey.

Pennacchio has been an outspoken advocate for his lake communities, both Greenwood Lake and Lake Hopatcong. His office has also been very engaged in infrastructure projects located in his Essex County communities. During his initial tenure in Trenton, he worked closely with both the Legislature and Administration in crafting and passing legislation.

Pennacchio ran for re-election to the New Jersey State Senate to represent District 26 and won in the general election on November 7, 2023. His current term ends on January 11, 2028. He currently resides in Rockaway Township with his wife Diane.
