Representative Larry Wainstein

Larry Wainstein is a member of the Democratic Party and currently serves in the New Jersey General Assembly, representing District 33. He assumed office on January 13, 2026, and his current term will conclude on January 11, 2028.

Wainstein was born and raised in Union City, New Jersey, where he graduated from Memorial High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in business management from Saint Peter’s University. His professional career has been defined by his work as a small business owner and his active involvement in community development. He has served as chairman of the Union City Urban Enterprise Zone program from 2000 to 2012, where he focused on initiatives to stimulate local economic growth and support small businesses. In addition to his business ventures, Wainstein founded and presides over the Larry Wainstein Family Foundation, which has contributed to charitable causes and community programs in Union City and surrounding areas.

Wainstein entered politics with a strong base of community support, running for election to the New Jersey General Assembly in 2025. He won the general election on November 4, 2025, alongside Gabe Rodriguez, securing representation for District 33. His campaign emphasized economic revitalization, affordable housing, and improved public services, reflecting his long-standing commitment to grassroots advocacy. Wainstein’s political rise was bolstered by his alliance with State Senator Brian P. Stack, which helped him overcome intra-party competition and secure his place in the legislature.
