Representative Paul Kanitra
Paul Kanitra is an American Republican Party politician serving as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly for the 10th legislative district. He took office on January 9, 2024. Born and raised in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, Kanitra has been an active member of his community. Before entering politics, he graduated from Point Pleasant Beach High School and attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science.
Kanitra’s political journey began when he worked in the offices of Representatives Chris Smith and Mike Ferguson. His experience in Washington, D.C., included working on the Helsinki Commission, focusing on human rights issues. Later, he served as the mayor of Point Pleasant Beach from 2020 to 2023, following a term as a councilman. During his tenure as mayor, he also sat on the board of the New Jersey Conference of Mayors.
In the 2023 New Jersey General Assembly election, Kanitra and his running mate, Gregory P. McGuckin, defeated Democrats John Lamacchia and Emma Mammano. The 10th legislative district includes both the New Jersey Senate and two members of the General Assembly. Kanitra’s victory reflects his commitment to public service and his dedication to representing the interests of his constituents.
