Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (born July 26, 1971) is an American Democratic Party politician who represents the 15th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly. She was sworn into office on February 15, 2018, succeeding Elizabeth Maher Muoio, who left office after being nominated to serve as Treasurer of New Jersey.

Early Life: A resident of Trenton, New Jersey, Reynolds-Jackson attended Trenton Central High School. She graduated from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and from Central Michigan University with a Master of Science in administration.

Political Career: Verlina Reynolds-Jackson has a strong commitment to public service. She served as a member of the Trenton City Council before joining the New Jersey General Assembly. In 2010, she was first elected to represent Trenton’s East Ward, securing a second term in 2014. During her tenure, she received 42% of the votes cast in the ward among the three candidates running for the seat.

As a Democratic county committee member, Reynolds-Jackson actively participated in political campaigns across Mercer County in 2016 and 2017. Her dedication to community welfare led to her election as the City Council’s vice president in October 2014, despite some opposition.

She currently holds the following roles:

  • Vice-Chair of the Assemblys Commerce and Economic Development committee
  • Member of the Budget and Higher Education committees
  • Passionate advocate for maternal and infant health, sponsoring A-5472, which established the New Jersey Maternal and Infant Health Innovation Authority.
