Representative Doreen Gallegos Contact information

Doreen Ybarra Gallegos is an American Democratic Party member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, serving since 2013. She represents District 52 and her current term ends on December 31, 2024. Gallegos is running for re-election to the New Mexico House of Representatives to represent District 52 and she is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on June 4, 2024.

Gallegos earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from New Mexico State University. Her professional experience includes working as the executive director of Mesilla Valley CASA, a program that helps foster children. She has been with Mesilla Valley Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) since 2001.

In her tenure, Gallegos has served on several committees. In the 2023-2024 legislative session, she was assigned to the Commerce & Economic Development Committee (as Chair), Rules and Order of Business Committee, and Taxation & Revenue Committee. In the 2021-2022 legislative session, she was assigned to the Commerce & Economic Development Committee, Rules and Order of Business Committee, and State Government, Elections & Indian Affairs Committee. In the 2019-2020 legislative session, she served on the Local Government, Land Grants & Cultural Affairs Committee, Rules and Order of Business Committee, and Taxation & Revenue Committee.

Gallegos was first elected to the state legislature in 2012, and is currently the House majority whip. She has been a dedicated public servant, working tirelessly for her constituents and the state of New Mexico.
