Pete Campos (born 1954) is an American politician and educator serving as a Democratic member of the New Mexico Senate, representing the 8th District since 1991. He also serves as President of Luna Community College in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

Campos earned his B.A. in economics and philosophy from the University of New Mexico in 1974, his M.A. in counseling from New Mexico Highland University in 1993, and his Ed.D. in educational leadership from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, in 2003.

From July 2008 to June 2015, Dr. Pete Campos served as the President of Luna Community College. In this role, he was the chief executive officer of the college, overseeing all institutional programs and projects. He implemented board policies, new initiatives, and essential services to students, faculty, and support staff. His leadership focused on student success, faculty and staff appropriateness, and the efficient utilization of physical resources. Dr. Campos also played a key role in maintaining uninterrupted service to the community.

Throughout his tenure, Dr. Campos achieved several accomplishments, including writing the institutional Self-Study for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in 2014. He has been an advocate for education and community development, contributing significantly to the growth and progress of Luna Community College and the state of New Mexico.

As a New Mexico State Senator, Pete Campos has represented the 8th District, which includes counties such as Colfax, Guadalupe, Harding, Mora, Quay, San Miguel, and Taos. His leadership within the Senate has been marked by his commitment to a bright future for New Mexico.
