Representative Ray Lara
Raymundo Lara, also known as Ray, is an American politician and educator. He is currently serving as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from the 34th district. The 34th district includes San Miguel, La Mesa, Chamberino, La Union, Santa Teresa, and Sunland Park in Doña Ana County.
Lara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from New Mexico State University. Prior to entering politics, he spent 17 years in K-12 education and worked as the program coordinator for the Gadsden Independent Schools. His dedication to education is evident in his career trajectory and his commitment to improving the educational system in his district.
In 2018, Lara defeated incumbent Democrat Bealquin “Bill” Gomez and took office on January 15, 2019. He is a member of the Democratic Party. His victory in the election demonstrated his strong leadership skills and the trust that the people of his district have in him.
