Tara Jaramillo was born and raised in Socorro County, New Mexico. Her family has roots in the area from before New Mexico was a state. Her family has been miners, entrepreneurs, ranchers, and educators. Tara grew up close to the land on a ranch in Water Canyon and owns a vineyard in Lemitar.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in special education in 1993 and a Master of Science in speech-language pathology in 1995, both from New Mexico State University. Her career experience includes working as a speech-language pathologist with La Vida Felicidad Early Intervention and with the Presbyterian Hospital.

In 1999, she founded Positive Outcomes, a healthcare organization with over 400 employees. This business is dedicated to families with children with disabilities. Her work in this field demonstrates her commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and her dedication to improving the lives of children with disabilities.

As a legislator, Tara Jaramillo has been assigned to the Appropriations and Finance Committee and the Health & Human Services Committee. Her work in these committees allows her to influence policies and legislation that directly impact the lives of her constituents and the people of New Mexico.
