Representative Gloristine Brown
Gloristine Brown is a dedicated public servant and a member of the Democratic Party. She is currently serving as a representative in the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 8. She assumed office on January 1, 2023, and her current term ends on January 1, 2025.
Born and raised in Bethel, North Carolina, Gloristine has always been passionate about serving her community. She earned a B.S. in computer information systems and a master’s degree in public administration from Strayer University in 2013. Before her political career, she worked in the nursing and insurance industries, gaining valuable experience and insights into the needs of her community.
Gloristine’s political journey began when she served as a commissioner of the town board and later as the mayor of Bethel, North Carolina. Her leadership and dedication to her community were evident during her tenure. She also became a trustee at Pitt Community College (PCC) and joined the North Carolina Association of Community College Trustees executive board, further demonstrating her commitment to education and community development.
In the 2022 North Carolina House of Representatives election, Gloristine was elected to represent District 8, which includes Pitt County. She won the election with 13,116 votes against her Republican opponent, Charles Vincent. As a representative, she has been actively involved in various committees, including the Appropriations Committee, the Appropriations on Agriculture and Natural and Economic Resources Committee, the Education - Community Colleges Committee, the Education - Universities Committee, and the Local Government - Land Use, Planning, and Development Committee.
Gloristine is running for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 8. She is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. The Democratic primary for this office on March 5, 2024, was canceled.
Throughout her political career, Gloristine has shown a deep commitment to her constituents and a strong desire to make a positive impact in her community. Her dedication to public service continues to drive her work in the North Carolina House of Representatives.
