Laura Budd is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing the 103rd district. She assumed office on January 1, 2023. Her current term ends on January 1, 2025. She is running for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 103 and is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024.

Laura Budd was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in 1999 and a law degree from the Wake Forest School of Law in 2002. Her career experience includes working as an attorney. She has been affiliated with the following organizations: Matthews Athletic Recreation Assoc., President (2020-2022), Piedmont Gymnastics Org., Vice-President (2020 -2022), Peace & Justice Immigration Clinic, Former president, and Matthews Health Clinic, Former member.

She is the managing partner of Weaver & Budd Law, PLLC with twenty years of experience in practicing law. She concentrates primarily on business litigation and contract law, which accounts for over 60 percent of her practice.

As of the 2020 Census, North Carolina state representatives represented an average of 87,116 residents. After the 2010 Census, each member represented 79,715 residents. Members of the North Carolina House of Representatives serve two-year terms and are not subject to term limits. North Carolina legislators assume office on January 1 the year after their election.
