A. Reece Pyrtle, Jr., also known as Reece, is a member of the Republican Party and represents District 65 in the North Carolina House of Representatives. He assumed office on August 18, 2021, and his current term ends on January 1, 2025. Reece is running for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 65 and is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024.

Reece is a lifelong resident of Rockingham County and a 1985 graduate of Morehead High School in Eden. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Appalachian State University in 1989. Before his political career, Reece worked as a law enforcement officer and served as the Chief of Police for the City of Eden. He was also a twice-elected County Commissioner in Rockingham County.

Reece was appointed to the North Carolina House of Representatives to fill the vacancy left by Jerry Carter, who passed away in August 2021. He was formally elected in 2022. As a legislator, Reece has been assigned to several committees during the 2023-2024 session, including the Appropriations Committee, House Appropriations on Justice and Public Safety Committee, Families, Children, and Aging Policy Committee, Health Committee, Judiciary II Committee, and State Personnel Committee, where he serves as Chair.

As of the 2020 Census, North Carolina state representatives represented an average of 87,116 residents. After the 2010 Census, each member represented 79,715 residents. North Carolina House of Representatives District 65 includes parts of Rockingham County.
