Austen Schauer is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party. He represents District 13 in the North Dakota House of Representatives. He assumed office on December 1, 2018, and his current term ends on December 1, 2026.

Austen Schauer is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party. He represents District 13 in the North Dakota House of Representatives. He assumed office on December 1, 2018, and his current term ends on December 1, 2026.

Schauer was born in Turtle Lake and attended school in Portland and Sacramento. After graduating high school, he moved back to North Dakota. While in North Dakota, Austen’s father took a job as a pastor at Hebron Baptist Church. Schauer pursued his higher education in North Dakota, earning an Associate Arts degree in broadcasting at Dickinson State College. He then transferred to the University of North Dakota, where he earned his Bachelor in Science in Speech.

He started his news broadcasting career in 1977 and ended it in 2013. After leaving his news broadcasting career, he worked in the fundraising and development field. Then, he got a job at ProSource, a recruiting team in Fargo.

In addition to his professional career, Schauer is also involved in various social activities. He is involved in Youth Ministry, Prison Ministry, Salvation Army, Feed My Starving Children, and Fisher House. He is married to Angela Tracy, and they have three children and ten grandchildren.

Schauer currently resides in West Fargo, North Dakota. As a representative, he has sponsored several bills and has served as the Majority Caucus Leader in the House of Representatives during the 68th Legislative Assembly - Regular Session in 2023.
