Representative Daniel Johnston

Daniel Johnston is a Republican member of the North Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 24. He initially served from December 1, 2016, to December 1, 2020, and resumed office on December 1, 2024, with his current term set to end on December 1, 2028.​

Born and raised in North Dakota, Daniel developed a strong connection to his community early in life. He pursued higher education at Liberty University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with focuses on Accounting and Religion, followed by a Master of Public Policy and Public Administration. His academic background provided him with a comprehensive understanding of financial management and public affairs, which he has applied throughout his professional and political career.​

Daniel is a retired Army veteran, having dedicated years of service to the nation. His military experience instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, leadership, and commitment to public service. Following his military career, he transitioned into entrepreneurship, establishing himself as a small business owner. This venture allowed him to contribute to the local economy and understand the challenges faced by business owners in North Dakota.​

In his legislative role, Daniel has been actively involved in various committees. During the 2025 legislative session, he serves on the Judiciary and Transportation committees. These assignments enable him to influence policies related to the state’s legal system and transportation infrastructure, areas critical to the well-being and development of North Dakota.​

Beyond his legislative duties, Daniel is an active member of several organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #2764, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Post #24, the National Rifle Association (NRA), and Eagles Post #2192. His involvement in these organizations reflects his commitment to veterans’ affairs, Second Amendment rights, and community engagement.​

Residing in Kathryn, North Dakota, Daniel is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Wendi, have been married for several years and are the proud parents of eight children. Balancing family life with public service, Daniel strives to represent the values and interests of his constituents in District 24, advocating for policies that promote economic growth, education, and the overall well-being of North Dakota residents.​
