David C. Monson was born on July 30, 1950. He is an American politician in the state of North Dakota. He is a member of the North Dakota House of Representatives, representing the 19th district. A Republican, he was first elected in 1992 to represent the 10th district, though now he serves the 19th district with Karen Anderson.

David Monson is not just a politician, but also a farmer, a retired school administrator, and a retired insurance agent/owner. He has an AA from UND-Williston, a BS from UND, and an MEd from UND. He has served as the Speaker of the House in 2009 and as the Assistant Majority Leader from 1997 to 2009.

He has been a part of various boards such as the President of Family Mutual Insurance Company, President of Dovre Lutheran Church, North American Industrial Hemp Council, ND Atmospheric Resource Board, and NE ND Heritage Association. He has also been a part of past boards like Prairie Public Broadcasting, President of North Central Council of School TV, President of Upper Valley Special Education Unit, and President of Osnabrock School District.

David Monson is a member of several organizations including the Past Grand Chancellor, Knights of Pythias - life member, Eagles, ND Pulse Growers, Farm Bureau, Northern Canola Growers, NRA - life member, and National Wildlife Federation - life member. He has been recognized as the Legislator of the year by ND Township Officers in 2011 and ND Career & Technical Education in 2007.

David Monson is married to Mary and they have three sons and six grandchildren. He has been a part of the House since 1993. He resides in Osnabrock, North Dakota, U.S. and is a self-employed farmer.
