Representative Desiree Morton

Desiree Morton is a Republican member of the North Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 46. She assumed office on December 1, 2024, and her current term will end on December 1, 2028.​

Born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota, Desiree graduated from Fargo South High School. She pursued higher education at North Dakota State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1981. During her time at the university, she developed a strong foundation in educational principles, which later influenced her commitment to community involvement and public service.​

After completing her education, Desiree married her high school sweetheart, Steven, a former serviceman in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. Together, they have celebrated over four decades of marriage and have raised five children. Desiree dedicated 26 years to homeschooling her children, emphasizing the importance of personalized education and instilling strong family values. In addition to her role as an educator within her family, she managed the administrative aspects of the family’s home remodeling business, gaining firsthand experience in small business operations and financial management.​

Desiree’s commitment to her community extends beyond her family and professional endeavors. She is an active member of the Fargo-Moorhead Pickleball Club, participating in local events and promoting active lifestyles among residents. Her volunteer work with Ruby’s Pantry, a community food distribution program, showcases her dedication to addressing food insecurity and supporting those in need. Furthermore, Desiree is involved with her local church, working with youth groups to mentor and guide the younger generation.​

In her legislative role, Desiree is focused on upholding conservative values and advocating for policies that reflect the interests of her constituents in District 46. Her priorities include supporting small businesses by reducing regulatory burdens and taxes, promoting school choice to empower parents in their children’s education, and ensuring transparency in public school curricula. Desiree is also a staunch supporter of constitutional rights, emphasizing the importance of individual freedoms and personal responsibility.​

Residing at 1517 28 1/2 Avenue South in Fargo, Desiree remains deeply connected to her community. Her personal experiences as a wife, mother, educator, and small business manager equip her with a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities faced by families and businesses in North Dakota. Through her dedication to public service and community engagement, Desiree Morton aims to contribute meaningfully to the legislative process and advocate effectively for the residents of District 46.
