Representative Eric Murphy

Eric James Murphy is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party. He is currently serving as a representative in the North Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 43. He assumed office on December 1, 2022, and his current term ends on December 1, 2026.

Murphy is not only a politician but also a professor at UND SMHS and a business owner. He has a rich educational background with a BA in Biology/History from Hastings College and a PhD in Biochemistry/Neurochemistry from Ohio State University.

Throughout his career, Murphy has been recognized for his contributions to his field. He is a recipient of the Clifford Research Award from UND and the Jordi Folch Pi Award from the American Society for Neurochemistry. He is also a Fellow of the American Oil Chemists Society and a member of the International Society for Neurochemistry.

In the 68th Legislative Assembly (2023), Murphy has been actively involved in various committees. He is a member of the Interim Education Committee, the School Funding Task Force, and the Standing Education Transportation Committee. He also serves on the North Dakota Statutory Committee Brain Injury Advisory Council.

Murphy ran for election to the North Dakota House of Representatives to represent District 43 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. He is serving alongside Zachary Ista.

Murphy resides in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He is married to Cindy and they have three children.
