Senator Spencer Kern

Spencer Kern is a member of the Republican Party serving in the Oklahoma State Senate, representing District 31. He assumed office on November 20, 2024, and his current term is set to end on November 22, 2028.

Born in Victoria, Texas, Spencer Kern grew up in a family deeply connected to the oil industry. His parents, originally from the Cache/Indiahoma area, moved to Texas for work opportunities in the oilfield. Spencer’s early life was shaped by his involvement in his father’s oil service company, where he worked as a roughneck. This hands-on experience instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by working families.

Spencer pursued higher education with a focus on agriculture and animal science. He earned an associate degree from Wharton County Junior College in 1989, followed by a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M University in 1992. His academic background laid the foundation for his career in agriculture and livestock management.

After completing his education, Spencer took on a leadership role at a Texas livestock auction barn. This position provided him with valuable insights into the agricultural industry and honed his skills in management and decision-making. In the 1990s, he returned to his family’s farm in Indiahoma, Oklahoma, where he continued to work in agriculture and contribute to his local community.

Spencer Kern’s journey into politics was driven by his commitment to serving his community and addressing the needs of his constituents. As a state senator, he focuses on issues such as economic development, education, and agriculture.
