Biography of Cyrus Javadi

Cyrus Javadi (born 1977/1978) is an American politician and dentist who serves as the state representative for Oregon’s 32nd District in the Oregon House of Representatives. He was first elected in 2022 as a Republican but officially switched his party affiliation to the Democratic Party on September 5, 2025.

Early Life and Education

Javadi was born in Provo, Utah, and spent part of his childhood in New England. As a teenager, he returned to Utah, where he completed high school and later attended Brigham Young University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. He began his career in financial and tax work before pursuing his passion for healthcare. In 2008, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and moved to Astoria, Oregon, to begin practicing dentistry.

Career

Javadi worked in private dental practice after relocating to Astoria. Economic circumstances later led him to Texas, but he eventually returned to Oregon, this time settling in Tillamook. He currently serves as the Dental Director for the Tillamook County Health Department and also operates a private dental practice. In addition, he has held leadership roles including Commissioner for the Port of Tillamook, Secretary for the Oregon Dental Association, and member of the Oregon Dental Association’s Board of Trustees.

Political Career

In November 2022, Javadi was elected to represent Oregon’s 32nd District, defeating Democrat Logan Laity. He assumed office in January 2023, succeeding Suzanne Weber.

Although elected as a Republican, Javadi often broke ranks with his party during his first legislative term. He supported Democratic positions on issues such as free speech (opposing book bans), LGBTQ+ rights, Medicaid funding, infrastructure investment, and support for rural hospitals.

On September 5, 2025, Javadi formally switched his party affiliation to Democrat. He cited his values—protecting minority rights, defending free expression, and ensuring strong healthcare access—as increasingly out of alignment with what he described as the Republican Party’s growing extremism and obstruction. Javadi also announced his intent to seek re-election as a Democrat in 2026.

Personal Life

Cyrus Javadi resides in Tillamook, Oregon, with his blended family of nine children. He is of Iranian descent. His family life has strongly influenced his political perspectives; one of his sons is openly gay, which Javadi has said deepened his commitment to LGBTQ+ equality and free speech.

Outside of his professional and political work, Javadi enjoys flying as a pilot, golfing, playing piano, and painting. He is a dedicated husband, father, and active member of his coastal Oregon community.

Because let’s face it, one size doesn’t fit all, especially when it comes to education.

Public Safety

The safety of our community is non-negotiable. I’ve been working to make sure our law enforcement has what they need and that our laws protect law abiding Oregonians. It’s about making our neighborhoods places where we can all feel safe and secure.

Addressing Hard Drugs & Homelessness

We need to get tough on the bad actors while helping those who want to turn their lives around. And when it comes to homelessness, let’s use both the carrot and the stick. We’ve got resources and good folks ready to help, but it’s also about accountability.
