Representative Barry Jozwiak
Barry J. Jozwiak, born on December 21, 1945, is a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 5th district, which is made up of parts of Berks County. He is a member of the Republican Party.
Jozwiak was born in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England and currently resides in Bernville, Pennsylvania, U.S. He is married to Margie G. Jozwiak.
He earned his associate degree in community services and his B.S. in law enforcement and corrections from Penn State University. His professional experience includes working as a Pennsylvania State Police trooper for 25 years and as Berks County sheriff for 12 years. Jozwiak attained the rank of third class petty officer before his honorable discharge from the US Navy. He served in the US Navy from December 1963 to December 1966.
In addition to his service in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Jozwiak served as a Bern Township Supervisor. His committee assignments include Commerce, Game & Fisheries (Vice Chair), Judiciary (Subcommittee on Crime and Corrections - Chair), and Liquor Control (Subcommittee on Licensing - Chair).
Jozwiak is a small business owner and supports policies aimed at creating family-sustaining jobs in Berks County and across Pennsylvania. He backs education funding reform and is dedicated to fixing Pennsylvania’s broken public pension systems. His commitment to public service has been a constant part of his life.
He is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment right to bear arms. He serves as a National Rifle Association membership recruiter and belongs to several hunting and fishing clubs. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and supports the important heritage associated with farming while recognizing the important role it plays in the Commonwealth’s economy.
Jozwiak currently serves on the House Judiciary, Game and Fisheries, Commerce, and Liquor Control committees. He was appointed to serve as chairman of the House Judiciary Sub-committee on Crime and Corrections. He also serves as chairman of the House Law Enforcement Caucus and vice chairman of the House Game and Fisheries Committee. He is the House appointee on the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC), which provides training and certification support for law enforcement officers across Pennsylvania.
He and his wife, Margie, have been married for more than three decades and have one daughter and three grandchildren. He is a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a lifelong resident of Berks County.
