Representative Michael Stender
Michael Stender is a Republican and a dedicated public servant who has spent his career protecting families and serving his community. He has served as a Career and Volunteer firefighter and former emergency medical technician with the Harrisburg Bureau of Fire, where he gained firsthand experience in the importance of keeping our communities and families safe.
As a state representative, he aims to improve public safety for the residents of Northumberland and Montour counties. Michael is a proud husband and father of three daughters. As a lifelong resident of Northumberland County, he understands the conservative values that are vital to residents of the Susquehanna Valley. He is committed to ensuring fiscal restraint in state government and supporting small businesses.
Michael’s community involvement and leadership experience extend beyond his work as a Firefighter. He is a past member of the Shikellamy School Board, Degenstein Community Library, Sunbury Civil Service Commission and an Eagle Scout who served as a committee member for the Boy Scouts of America Susquehanna Council Troop 331.
Michael is a proud graduate of Shikellamy High School, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and Harrisburg Area Community College’s Career Fire Academy. He is a dedicated public servant who is committed to working tirelessly for our community and representing the values of hard-working men and women he serves in the 108th district.
For the 2023-24 Legislative session, Mike will serve on the House Consumer Protection: Technology & Utilities, Commerce and Veterans Affairs/Emergency Preparedness Committees.
An EMT and firefighter, Stender was elected to the Shikellamy School Board in 2021, after being unsuccessful in the primary election in 2019. In 2023, Stender was chosen for the Republican nomination in the special election to fill the 108th District seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. The seat was open following the election of Lynda Schlegel Culver to the Pennsylvania State Senate. The 108th was a solidly Republican district, and Stender won with the support of Culver. He was sworn in on June 5, 2023.
Stender resides in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, and has three daughters.
