Paul Schemel is a resident of Franklin County and has been serving the 90th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives since his first election in 2014. During the current legislative session, Paul serves as a member of the House Aging and Older Adult Services, Energy and Environmental Resources, Judiciary, and Health committees.

Paul Schemel is a resident of Franklin County and has been serving the 90th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives since his first election in 2014. During the current legislative session, Paul serves as a member of the House Aging and Older Adult Services, Energy and Environmental Resources, Judiciary, and Health committees. He was also named chairman of the Health Committee’s Subcommittee on Health Care and the Judiciary Committee’s Committee on Courts.

Before his election to the House, Paul served six years on Greencastle Borough Council, where he was elected council vice president and chairman of the Public Safety Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and a Master of Business Administration in contract management from the University of Dallas, a Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law, and an international diploma in restorative justice from Queen’s University.

Paul is a partner in the Franklin County law firm of Dick, Stein, Schemel, Wine & Frey, LLP, where he began his legal career in 1999. He was also an adjunct instructor at Penn State – Mont Alto, teaching business law and ethics. Paul served the U.S. State Department for one year in Iraq as an advisor on local government and subsequently received the Expeditiary Service Award from the Secretary of State. He was also invited to participate in the Strategic Implementation Seminar at the U.S. Army War College and was awarded the Outstanding Eagle Scout award by the Mason Dixon Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Throughout his career, Paul has been an active supporter of his community. He is currently an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 99, Greencastle, and has served on the board of several local organizations. Paul and his wife, Lucy, live in Greencastle and have six children. The family belongs to St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Greencastle, where they are active members. With the exception of those who have already graduated, all of their children attend public schools.
