Regina G. Young, born on August 23, 1973, is an American politician and community organizer. She is currently serving as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from the 185th district. Her political journey began when she was elected in November 2020 and she assumed office on December 1, 2020.

Regina G. Young, born on August 23, 1973, is an American politician and community organizer. She is currently serving as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from the 185th district. Her political journey began when she was elected in November 2020 and she assumed office on December 1, 2020.

Young’s educational background is quite extensive. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Central Connecticut State University. During her time there, she was president of the Black Student Union and a member of the Student Government Association. She furthered her education by earning a Master of Arts in community development and urban studies from Eastern University. She also received an honorary Doctorate Degree in Divinity from Hearts Bible Institute University.

Before her political career, Young worked as a community organizer, social service worker, and licensed grief counselor. She also served as a staffer in the City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Education. In addition to these roles, Young founded the Empowered Community Development Corporation.

In her current role as a state representative, Young is involved in various committees and caucuses. She is on the board of the Browning Scholarship Foundation, an advisory committee member for Turning Points for Children, and a member of the Police District Advisory Committee (PDAC) for the 12th district. She also holds positions in the Appropriations, Secretary Labor & Industry State Government Tourism & Economic And Recreational Development Southeast Delegation, Subcommittee Chair Philadelphia House Delegation Prayer Caucus, Co-Chair Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus, Subcommittee Chair Animal Protection Caucus Arts & Culture Caucus PA Black Maternal Health Caucus PA SAFE Caucus Women’s Caucus Women’s Health Caucus.

On a personal note, Young is married and the mother of two children.
