Representative Stephen Kinsey
Stephen Kinsey, born on December 15, 1958, is an American politician and a member of the Democratic Party. He is currently serving as a representative in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 201st district, a position he has held since January 1, 2013.
Kinsey is a resident of northwest Philadelphia and a product of the Philadelphia public school system. He graduated from Germantown High School in 1976. He furthered his education by earning a Bachelor of Science degree from West Chester University in 1981 and a Master of Business Administration from Eastern University in 2002.
Before his tenure in the House, Kinsey served as the chief of staff to state Representative John Myers, who preceded Kinsey in office. During his time in the House, he has served on the Appropriations, Health, Human Services, and Transportation committees.
Kinsey represents the 201st House District, which is located within Philadelphia and includes parts of the Germantown, Mt. Airy, West Oak Lane, and Ogontz neighborhoods. He has been a part of various committees and caucuses such as the Human Services, Chair Policy Committee Rules Philadelphia House Delegation, Asian Pacific American Caucus, At Risk Children & Families Caucus, Autism and Intellectual Disabilities Caucus, Blue-Green Caucus, Early Childhood Education Caucus, Homeless Caucus, Legislative Hunger Caucus, LGBTQ Equality Caucus, PA Black Maternal Health Caucus, PA SAFE Caucus, Pennsylvania Charitable Nonprofit Caucus, Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus, and Women’s Health Caucus.
Kinsey also served as the chair of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus during the 2019-2020 legislative session. He ran for re-election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to represent District 201 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
