Senator Axel Roque Gracia

Axel Roque Gracia is a member of the New Progressive Party and currently serves in the Puerto Rico House of Representatives, representing District 28. He assumed office on January 2, 2025, and his current term will conclude on January 2, 2029.

He is a Puerto Rican politician and educator born on July 21, 1983, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. He pursued his early education in the Puerto Rico public school system, graduating from Francisco Morales High School in Naranjito. In 2007, he earned a Bachelor of Education with a concentration in history from the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico, and later pursued graduate studies at National University College. Professionally, Roque Gracia has worked as a teacher and insurance agent, experiences that shaped his perspective on public service and community needs.

Roque Gracia began his political career in local government, serving in the Municipal Assembly of Naranjito from 2010 to 2016. His leadership and advocacy at the municipal level propelled him to higher office, and in 2016 he was elected to the Puerto Rico Senate representing District 6 (Guayama). He served in the Senate from January 2, 2017, until January 2, 2021, where he focused on legislation related to education, infrastructure, and community development. After his Senate term, he continued his involvement in public affairs, maintaining strong ties to his district and constituents.

In the 2024 elections, Roque Gracia successfully ran for the Puerto Rico House of Representatives, representing District 28. He succeeded Juan José Santiago Nieves of the Popular Democratic Party, marking a significant political shift in the district. His tenure in the House began on January 2, 2025, and he is expected to serve until January 2, 2029. As a legislator, Roque Gracia has been active in sponsoring measures that address local infrastructure, education, and municipal development, including initiatives to transfer public facilities to municipal control for better community management.
