Senator Domingo Torres García

Representative Domingo J. Torres García was born on September 23, 1982, he is a native of Belén de Puerto Rico, Juana Díaz and his parents are Mrs. Yolanda García Figueroa and Mr. Domingo Torres Cruz.

Domingo completed his primary and secondary studies in the public schools of his hometown. Once he completed his secondary studies, he began university studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in Ponce. At this academic institution he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. To strengthen his educational and professional experiences he took several courses and workshops, of which Computerized Accounting stands out “Peachtree”, Accounting for Municipalities of Puerto Rico, Government and Public Administration, the latter at the José Ortega y Gasset Foundation – Gregorio Marañón in Toledo, Spain. Likewise, Torres García completed graduate studies at his Alma Mater in Ponce and obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources and completed a Doctorate in Industrial Organizational Psychology.

Highlighting his work history, we can mention that Representative Torres García has more than 15 years of experience performing the functions of Administrator in a corporation and as an Accountant in a family firm. In addition, he served as Accounting Supervisor in the Finance Department of the Municipality of Juana Díaz. He also worked as Director of Administrative Services and Internal Revenue and served as Director of Federal Programs and Housing Coordinator in the Municipality of Juana Díaz.

On the other hand, as a young leader he has stood out for being a member of several organizations such as: Statistics Coordination Committee of the Institute of Statistics of Puerto Rico, Local Board – Municipal Alliance for Economic Development and Board of Commercial Premises Municipality of Juana Díaz. At the same time, he is a member of the National Human Resources Society (SHRM) and served as President of the Auctions Board of the Autonomous Municipality of Juana Díaz.

On the other hand, the Representative for District 25 (Ponce – Jayuya – Juana Díaz) is characterized by being a creative young man, with initiative, with a great sense of responsibility and for his ability to work as a team. In the past four years he distinguished himself as President of the Commission on Labor Affairs and Transformation of the Pension System for a Decent Retirement of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. He currently serves as Alternate Spokesperson for the Popular Democratic Party in the House of Representatives.
