Senator Eddie Charbonier Chinea

Eddie Charbonier Chinea, born March 15, 1982 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he has dedicated his life to public service and the development of his community. As part of his academic training includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Government and he later obtained a Juris Doctor, fundamental tools that have supported him your understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our communities. From an early age, Eddie Charbonier showed a deep interest in politics local and national. During his school years, he stood out for his participation in activities related to public management, spending hours in the Gallery Chamber, analyzing bills in the Legislative Library and communicating with legislators to share their innovative ideas for the well-being of Puerto Rico all its constituents. This commitment led him, in 1999, to be appointed director youth by Governor Pedro Rosselló, marking the beginning of a dedicated career to public service and social transformation. Within politics, his leadership materialized in relevant roles within the youth organizations of the New Progressive Party, serving as President of the Youth of San Juan, Regional Director of Youth and First Vice President of State Youth. From the age of 16, he began working at the House of Representatives and later served as an advisor on Affairs of Youth for the Municipality of San Juan, where his dedication led him to be part of the Municipal Cabinet as Director of the Community Contact Office. His time through it Senate as legislative advisor further consolidated its commitment to politics and service to citizens.

In 2016, after obtaining the support of the constituents of Precinct 1, in the primaries from the New Progressive Party, he was elected Representative of the District of San Juan. During his first four-year term, he stood out for leading the Development Commission of the Capital City and Youth Affairs, as well as chairing the Joint Commission of the Córdova and Fernós Congressional Boarding School Program. His performance was reaffirmed in subsequent elections upon being re-elected in the general elections from 2020 and 2024.

Currently, the Honorable Eddie Charbonier Chinea chairs the Finance Commission, he serves as President of the Special Joint Commission on Legislative Funds for Community Impact and once again leads the Joint Commission of the Córdova Program and Fernós from Congressional Boarding Schools. His career is characterized by a vision committed to the economic and social progress of Puerto Rico, and for a genuine vocation with public service.
