Senator Wanda Soto

Wanda “Wandy” Soto Tolentino was born on June 4 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Mr. Juan A. Soto Díaz (R.I.P.) and Mrs. Sonia Tolentino Torres. She grew up in Las Piedras, where she completed her primary and secondary studies. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and Human Resources from the University of Puerto Rico, Humacao Campus. Passionate about nature, animals, and music, in 2004 she released her first album Con Eterno Amor, which brought her multiple accolades. Subsequently, she published her second album Trayectoria and her first book Lágrimas detrás del Púlpito. She participated in Christian seminars and activities, bringing a message of faith and hope to people of all ages. In her professional career, she was the Director and Accountant for the Las Piedras Elderly Center (2002), Director of the Legislative Office for Hon. Itzamar Peña Ramírez (2011), and led the Field Operations Division of a major bank for seven (7) years. In the 2020 elections, she was elected as Senator for the District of Humacao, making history by winning as a minority candidate. In 2024, she was re-elected, becoming the first woman to be re-elected for a second term in her Senatorial District. Currently, she is the Chairwoman of the Committee on Family, Women, the Elderly, and the Population with Functional Diversity.
