Representative Anthony DeSimone

Rep. Anthony DeSimone (D-Dist. 5, Providence) was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives in November 2022. He is a member of both the House Corporations Committee and the House Municipal Government and Housing Committee.

During his first legislative session in 2023, Representative DeSimone introduced a new law which requires the director of the Department of Health to develop information on best practices for the treatment of patients with sepsis and septic shock. Each hospital and freestanding emergency-care facility is now required to implement procedures and policies in accordance with this information.

He also was the primary sponsor on a new law that helps align the state’s transit goals for the future by providing that the Director of the Rhode Island Department of Transportation shall serve as the Chairperson of the Board of RIPTA.

He is a lifelong resident of the Wanskuck section of Providence. Representative DeSimone is a graduate of St. Raphael’s Academy in Pawtucket and he attended Rhode Island College. He was born on March 26, 1990. He is the Senior Compliance Officer in the Providence Planning and Development Office.
