Born and raised in Warwick, Rhode Island, Peter Appollonio Jr. has deep roots in the community he now represents. He attended local schools, including Warwick Veterans High School, and later earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Rhode Island College. His career began in law enforcement, where he served for 24 years with the West Warwick Police Department, eventually rising to the rank of captain before retiring in 2017. During his time as a police officer, he also worked as a school resource officer, fostering connections with students and educators.

After retiring from law enforcement, Appollonio transitioned to education, working as a substitute teacher in Warwick Public Schools. His commitment to public service and his community led him to run for office in 2024, where he defeated the incumbent, Anthony DeLuca, by a narrow margin. His victory marked a significant shift in District 29, as he brought a fresh perspective and a focus on community-driven policies.

In the Rhode Island Senate, Appollonio serves as the Secretary of the Senate Committee on Special Legislation & Veterans’ Affairs and is also a member of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services.
