Representative Bill Clyburn
William “Bill” Clyburn, a Democrat, has served as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from the 82nd District since 1995. Born on May 19 in Camden, he hails from Aiken. Clyburn earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Allen University in 1964 and later pursued a Master’s in Education from the University of South Carolina in 1975.
Throughout his career, Representative Clyburn has made significant contributions to education and community service. He served as the principal of Aiken Elementary School in 1975 and subsequently held the position of principal at Aiken High School from 1983 to 1986. Additionally, he has worked as a public relations consultant.
Clyburn’s commitment to public service extends beyond education. He has been actively involved in various community organizations, including the Aiken County Human Relations Commission, the Aiken/Midland Valley Quality of Life Committee, and the Aiken 20-20 Education Committee. He has also been a board member of the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce and the Aiken County Voters’ Education Project.
