In 1974, he even served as the President of the Illinois News Broadcasters Association. But that was just the beginning. For over three decades, Bill worked as a news consultant and founded a media research and consulting firm with offices in Dallas, Los Angeles, and London (1978–2007).

His opponent was the incumbent, James Stewart Jr., who was seeking his fifth term. Taylor emerged victorious, securing the nomination and ultimately winning the election. Since November 8, 2010, he has faithfully represented the 86th District, which covers nearly two-thirds of Aiken County and boasts a population of over 41,000.

Legislative Roles: During his time in office, Bill Taylor has held significant positions. Notably, he chaired the Higher Education Sub-Committee within the State House Education & Public Works Committee. Additionally, he served as the Majority Caucus Whip from 2013 to 2016.
