Senator Matt Leber

Matt Leber is a Republican member of the South Carolina State Senate, representing District 41. He assumed office on November 11, 2024, and his current term is set to end on November 13, 2028.

Born on April 5, 1973, in Washington, North Carolina, Matt Leber has had a diverse and impactful career. Before entering politics, he served in the United States Army from 1991 to 1998, where he gained valuable experience as a paratrooper. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and earned an Associate of Science degree from Mitchell Community College in 2003.

Leber’s political journey began in the South Carolina House of Representatives, where he represented District 116. During his tenure, he served as Chairman of the Freshman Caucus and was a member of the House Judiciary Committee. He also played a pivotal role in the newly formed standing House Committee on Artificial Intelligence, showcasing his forward-thinking approach to governance.

In 2024, Leber transitioned to the South Carolina State Senate after defeating incumbent Sandy Senn in the Republican primary and subsequently winning the general election against Democrat Rita Adkins. His campaign focused on issues such as constitutional rights, public safety, and border security. Leber has been a staunch advocate for the Second Amendment and has worked on legislation to combat drug trafficking and enhance security measures.

Outside of his political career, Leber is deeply rooted in his community. He resides in Johns Island, South Carolina, with his wife, S. Michele Leber, and their three children. He is an active member of various organizations, including the American Legion and the Veteran of Foreign Wars. His commitment to public service extends beyond politics, as he participates in local initiatives and community groups.
