Senator Shane Martin

Meet Shane Martin, a native and resident of Spartanburg County. He graduated from Dorman High School in 1990 and went on to earn both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University. Leveraging his education, Shane established a successful business specializing in aerodynamic testing and program management.

Before his tenure in the state senate, Shane served on the Spartanburg School District 6 school board from 2005 to 2008 (he resigned to become a State Senator). As a proud conservative, he actively upholds Christian and conservative values within the South Carolina Legislature.

In the state capital, Shane serves on several committees, including Finance, Medical Affairs, and Rules. Notably, he chairs the Senate Corrections and Penology Committee and also leads the Senate Finance Criminal Justice Subcommittee.

Shane and his wife, Amy, have been married for 26 years and have two children—a daughter named Ashlyn (23) and a son named Aidan (18). Beyond politics, Shane is an honorary member of the Pacolet Lion’s Club and an ordained deacon at Philadelphia Baptist Church.

As a State Senator, Shane Martin maintains a strong record of accessibility. He actively listens to his constituents, engaging with them through meetings, emails, and phone calls. By staying connected, he works to shape policies that prevent future problems, always ensuring he has the necessary facts.
