A. Shane Massey is an American politician who has represented the 25th District in the South Carolina Senate since 2007. His district includes Aiken, Edgefield, Lexington, McCormick, and Saluda Counties. A member of the Republican party, Massey has played a significant role in state politics.

In 2016, he assumed the position of Majority Leader of the South Carolina Senate, a role he continues to hold. As Majority Leader, Massey has been instrumental in shaping legislative priorities and guiding the Senate’s agenda. He also chairs the Senate Rules committee.

Massey’s commitment to public service extends beyond politics. He is an attorney by profession and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University in 1997. Later, he obtained his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of South Carolina in 2000.

Outside of politics and law, Massey is actively involved in his community. He serves as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Providence Baptist Church. Additionally, he was named a 2014 Aspen Institute Rodel Fellow.

Despite briefly considering a run for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2009, Massey chose to remain in South Carolina to prioritize his family.
