Senator Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson (born July 25, 1968) is an American politician and a Republican Party member of the Tennessee Senate. He represents the 27th district, which includes Williamson County.

Early Life and Education

Born in Amarillo, Texas, Johnson graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He grew up with a strong sense of family values and a commitment to hard work.

Career

• Johnson is Vice President of public relations for Takl Inc., a company that owns a smartphone app described as the “Uber for odd jobs.” The app connects self-employed providers with users who need chores and small jobs completed.
• He also received ownership of LFGS, LLC (d.b.a. Leipers Fork Market) from his wife, Deanna. Johnson reports LFGS, LLC as a source of income and investment.
• In March 2006, Johnson was identified as a delegate of the Southern Republican Leadership Conference.

Tennessee Senate

• Elected to the Tennessee General Assembly Senate in 2006, Johnson quickly assumed leadership roles:
  • Assistant Floor Leader of the Republican Caucus
  • Chair of the Joint State & Local Subcommittee of Government Operations
  • Secretary of the Senate Transportation Committee
  • Vice Chair of the Joint Education Subcommittee of Government Operations
• He serves on several committees, including those related to government operations, welfare, human resources, corrections, and transportation.

Controversy

Johnson defended keeping the controversial bust of Confederate Lt. General Nathan Bedford Forrest prominently displayed in the Tennessee General Assembly building. He voted against relocating the bust to the nearby Tennessee State Museum for permanent display.

Personal Life

Jack Johnson is married to Deanna Carol Bell Johnson, and they have three children. The Johnsons reportedly attend Grace Chapel Church in Franklin.
