Representative Michael Lankford

Michael Lankford is a member of the Republican Party and currently serves in the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing District 75. He assumed office on January 13, 2026, and his current term will conclude on November 3, 2026.

Lankford was appointed by the Montgomery County Commission on December 8, 2025, following the death of his predecessor, Jeff Burkhart, and was selected to complete the remainder of Burkhart’s term.

Born on April 16, 1995, Lankford is a lifelong resident of Clarksville, Tennessee. He graduated from Clarksville High School before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Business from Austin Peay State University. He later pursued a Master of Science degree in Agriculture Business and Risk Management at the University of Tennessee at Martin. His academic background reflects a strong interest in agriculture and business, areas that have influenced his professional and political priorities. Prior to his appointment to the Tennessee House, Lankford served as a Montgomery County Commissioner from 2022 to 2025, where he gained experience in local governance and community leadership.

He has been active in organizations such as the Queen City Masonic Lodge #761, the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville, and the Central Civitan. He is also a member of Second Mile Baptist Church, underscoring his commitment to faith and community service. His participation in the Leadership Tennessee NEXT Program further highlights his dedication to leadership development and civic engagement.

In the Tennessee House of Representatives, Lankford serves on several committees, including the Commerce Committee, the State & Local Government Committee, the Business & Utilities Subcommittee, the Departments & Agencies Subcommittee, and the Public Service Subcommittee.
