Representative Scott Cepicky
Scott Cepicky (born July 29, 1966) is an American politician and former athlete who serves in the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing the 64th district. He is a member of the Republican Party.
Early Life and Athletic Career: Born in St. Louis, Cepicky attended Vianney High School in Kirkwood, Missouri. Later, he pursued a history major at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. During his college years, Cepicky played both football and baseball. After college, he declared for the 1989 NFL Draft as a punter but went undrafted. He briefly joined the Cincinnati Bengals and the Minnesota Vikings before transitioning to Minor League Baseball, playing for five teams from 1989 to 1994.
Political Career: Cepicky’s involvement in Maury County politics led him to run for office in 2018, seeking to replace Sheila Butt. He won the general election and has since served as a State Representative. Cepicky is a member of the Insurance & Banking and Education Committees. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he opposed efforts by the Tennessee health department to advertise COVID-19 vaccinations for teenagers.
Post-Athletic Career: After retiring from sports, Cepicky became a cattle rancher and worked in the automotive industry as a salesman.
