Representative Wes Virdell
Wes Virdell is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 53. He assumed office on January 14, 2025, and his current term is set to end on January 12, 2027.
Born and raised in Texas, Wes Virdell has deep roots in the Lone Star State. He graduated from Brady High School in 1998 and later served in the United States Air Force from 2001 to 2008. During his military service, he worked on Peacekeeper and Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles and served as a Military Training Leader. His time in the Air Force instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and commitment to service, values that he carried into his political career.
After his military service, Virdell transitioned into the private sector, where he became the owner of a trucking business. His experience as a business owner provided him with firsthand insight into the challenges faced by small businesses, shaping his policy priorities and legislative agenda.
In March 2024, Virdell secured the Republican nomination for District 53 by defeating Hatch Smith in the primary election. His victory marked the beginning of his tenure in the Texas House of Representatives, where he succeeded Andrew Murr.
