Representative Hoang Nguyen

Hoang Nguyen is a Democratic Party member serving in the Utah House of Representatives. She represents District 23 and assumed office on January 1, 2025. Her current term is set to end on January 1, 2027.

Born in Vietnam, Hoang Nguyen immigrated to the United States as a refugee and grew up on the west side of Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended the University of Utah, where she earned her MBA, and has since built a career as a successful entrepreneur and community leader. Nguyen is the managing partner of Sapa Investments and the CEO of Dragonfly Wellness, a vertically integrated medical cannabis company. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes empowering individuals to achieve both professional and personal growth.

Nguyen’s journey into politics was driven by her dedication to fostering inclusion and creating opportunities for her community. She has been actively involved in various initiatives, including affordable housing developments, efforts to address food deserts, and expanding access to medical cannabis for low-income individuals. Her work has not only created jobs but also provided pathways for aspiring entrepreneurs.

In addition to her legislative duties, Nguyen serves as the Chair of the Midtown Business District Board, representing over 500 local businesses in downtown Salt Lake City. She is also a member of the Advisory Committee for the Gerald E. King Women’s Center and serves on the board of the Utah Cannabis Association. Her commitment to public service and community development has made her a respected figure in Utah’s political and business landscapes.
